Saturday we hosted Quince Orchard. Yesterday we hosted the A Relay Carnival and tonight we head over to QO for the B Relay Carnival.

“Victorious Weekend”

Congratulations to the Barracudas who beat QO on Saturday, and followed that up with a very strong 2nd place finish on Sunday’s Relay Carnival.

1) SPECIAL MENTION

Everyone knows how much work it takes to run the Westleigh Swim Team.  There are many volunteers who show up week after week to make it all happen.  I wanted to send out a quick “Thank You” to a few of them this week.

Thank you to Maribeth Bolek who, along with her staff of sous chefs, cooked an estimated 325 egg sandwiches this weekend!

Thank you to the Coaches for their hard work everywhere, but especially with the Pre Team Follies.  The long term success of the team depends on getting our little ones excited about swimming, and the Follies are a big part of that!

Thank you to all of the quiet volunteers who came in at 7:00 am on both Saturday and Sunday to set up the meets.  One A meet in a weekend is a lot of work, two is, well, …..do the math!  :)

2) WESTLEIGH RELAY CARNIVAL

A quick reminder that tonight’s relay carnival requires that all swimmers be at Quince Orchard no later than 4:30pm.  Warm ups are from 4:40 to 5:00pm   Remember, that the B Relay carnival is by far the most challenging meet for the coaches to coordinate.  Your assistance in the way of punctuality is greatly appreciated.  You should have received an email this morning from Eileen with all of the details.  If you have not, please contact her ASAP.

3) COACHES LONG COURSE

Tomorrow is MCSL’s annual Long Course Meet.  This meet is the hardest event to get an invitation to.  Congratulations to Andrew & Matt Gibson, Nikos Tragotsis and Andrew Scher for making it!

4) 4th B MEET VS. QUINCE ORCHARD

This Wednesday we will host our neighbors from Quince Orchard in the B meet.  Please check the bulletin board for information about sign ups and volunteering. The deadline for signing up is Tuesday morning after morning practices.

5)  FRIDAY NIGHT’S SOCIAL. This week’s social dinner is “International Pot Luck”.  This is the one social where we ask you to bring an “international” main course from home.  When preparing your dish, please keep in mind that some people have allergies to certain types of food like peanuts.  We are a hungry crowd, so make enough to cover the number of people in your family plus a little extra.

Check the bulletin board for more information about this fun event, it begins at 6:00pm.

6) FINAL A MEET OF THE SEASON

We will have our final A duel meet this coming Saturday at Flower Valley.  Please remember to check the bulletin board to see if your swimmers are scheduled to be there; initial by their name to confirm their attendance.

7) MINI MEET SUNDAY AT WESTLEIGH

For those of you who signed up to have your swimmers participate in Westleigh’s Mini Meet, it will take place this Sunday.

If you have not yet paid, please place a check in the Grainger folder by Wednesday to secure your swimmers place.  This meet is a very large meet and requires that many things be purchased before hand.  Please don’t make the Mini Meet volunteer committee have to call you for your money.

Warm ups begin at 8:00am.  Please check the bulletin board for the many volunteer positions that will be needed.

8) BANQUET

The forms for the banquet are at the pool.  This year’s theme is Mardi gras.  The evening, Sunday July 26th, will be filled with music, dancing, trophy presentations and fun!  Please get your forms filled out as soon as possible. As with past years, the banquet is subsidized by the swim team.

Thanks and……
