1- FOOD SALES

I am sure that it is no secret that the Westleigh Swim Team spends money.  We have our King’s Dominion trip, our Friday night socials, the huge number of trophies that are given out, the subsidizing of the banquet; the list goes on.  The revenue that we generate through food sales during our home meets, along with our corporate sponsors, pays for the vast majority of this.  The four home meets that we just hosted generated revenue rarely seen at Westleigh!  Again, thank you to everyone for their help during these meets.

2- REIMBURSEMENTS

If you have ANY outstanding receipts, please submit them to Maribeth Bolek as soon as possible.  We are at the end of the season and we still have very large expenditures left to pay.  We need to know where we stand financially.

3- WESTLEIGH VS. FLOWER VALLEY

If anyone questioned whether Westleigh belonged in B Division, they can’t any longer.  Our record may stands at 2-3, but those three losses where by a combined 28 points.  To put that in perspective, the average margin of victory in each swim meet in Divisions A, B and C last weekend was almost 64.

4- SUNDAY’S MINI MEET

The dogs ran amuck at Westleigh yesterday!  Once again we opened our doors to the ‘next generation’ of MCSL swimmers as we hosted the 2009 Mini Meet.  Special thanks must go out to Sally Schmalz, Lynn Grainger and Lori Kelman who went way above and beyond to put on, what all of the visiting teams said, was “The best mini meet ever!”  With over 150 swimmers, the event was an absolute blast.

5- OPEN FORUM MEETING

I have been approached by many swim parents this season with suggestions, concerns and compliments.  As we finish up the season, I would like to get together with all of you to speak in more detail about these items.  I will be hosting an “Open Forum” on Tuesday night the 28th of July at 8:00pm in the Westleigh club house.  This is NOT A BITCH SESSION!  It is however, a great chance to address the good and not so good aspects of what we do while they are fresh in our minds.  All are welcome and encouraged to come.

6- SUPER STARS MEET

The Superstars meet is the final “B” meet of the year.  Participating teams are Westleigh, Manchester Farm and Darnestown.

The sign-up sheets have been posted since last Thursday, July 15 before the first morning practice.
The deadline to sign-up is Tuesday (tomorrow) July 21 at 11 AM.
There will be…
…no late entries accepted.
…no exhibition swims.
…no deck entries.
…no exceptions!

Timeline:
4:45 Arrive at Darnestown pool (directions will be sent Tuesday night with volunteer jobs)
5:00 Westleigh warm up
5:10 Officials Meeting
5:30 Meet Begins

7- DIVISIONAL TEAM PRACTICES

This Wednesday morning’s practice will be the final practice of the season.

All swimmers who will be participating in this year’s Divisional meet this Saturday at Germantown are asked to practice with the team on Thursday and Friday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am.  Please notify Coach Mike if you are unable to make these practices.

8- DIVISIONALS THEME AND FRIDAY’S MEALS

The Westleigh theme for the Divisional Championship meet will be “Black Out”. Please see the coaching staff for more information about this.

Friday morning after the Divisional Team’s practice, there will be a special breakfast served for Divisional swimmers in the club house.  Parent volunteers are needed to help set up, cook and clean up.  Please see the sign up sheet for more information.

On Friday night we’ll be having a pasta dinner at the Clubhouse for all Divisional swimmers and their families.  Look for sign up sheets on the bulletin board.  Since the International Pot Luck was so fantastic, we would like to ask that this dinner be a Pasta Pot Luck.  The team will provide salad, bread and dessert.  Please look for this sign up sheet as well. Volunteers will be needed to set up, serve and clean up.

9- BANQUET.

Not sure what to serve for dinner this Sunday night?  Can’t stand the thought of pizza again?  Wish you have some distraction for your kids since swim season will be over?

COME TO THE BANQUET!

The deadline to sign up is NOW!

If you have been procrastinating, please get to the pool and put your sign up sheet in the Fishkin folder.  If you can’t make it by, please email Ellen Fishkin with your intensions at   esfishkin@aol.com. The event is this coming Sunday night, July 26th beginning at 5:00pm.  Dinner will be served at 5:30, followed by trophies and dancing.  The theme is Mardi Gras!

Thanks and……
