2- NEXT YEAR’S DIVISION RANKINGS AND SCHEDULE
Although the MCSL web site has yet to officially post the 2010 division assignments, there seems to be no doubt about the fact that Westleigh is going up to Division A. 2010 will be the 34th season for the Barracudas and the first time we have swum in A. Although it might sound like a daunting task, everyone should take tremendous pride in being one of the top 6 teams in the county. Over the winter, when people ask you where you swim, you can tell them Westleigh. When they ask you what division you are in, you can proudly say “A”!
3-THIS WEEK’S PRACTICE SCHEDULE.
Coach Mike has requested that all swimmers who are participating in both the Individual and Relay All Stars report for one hour practices this week at 9:00am on Thursday & Friday. Relay starts will be emphasized.
4- WINTER SWIMMING.
I have preached this point for years. Swimming in the winter, even only once a week, will pay huge dividends next summer!
With Westleigh moving up to Division A, every bit of experience our swimmers gain over the winter will help out tremendously! I will be sending out more information about swim club later this summer.
5- REIMBURSEMENTS.
For those of you still holding on to receipts, please get reimbursement forms from the front of the swim team folder box. Fill them out (I suggest making copies of your receipts) and place the forms in the Bolek folder. Maribeth will mail your checks out.
7- SWIM TEAM GIFT.
I spoke to Jim Nagel, the club President, about a gift to the club from the swim team (an annual show of thanks). He told me that he considered the game room to be our gift to the club. I hope to be able to find something else to go into the game room for next summer. If anyone has any type of game room game that they no longer want, or any suggestion about something that we can buy for the game room, please let me know.
8- THANK YOU.
I wish to thank all of you for helping to make this season a success. We all know the amount of work that is required, over a very short period of time, to run the program. I am sure that I speak for everyone when I say that it only takes one look at the faces of the kids getting their trophies to know that it was all worth while!
9- SUGGESTIONS.
Although we were unable to have the “Open Forum” meeting as scheduled, we do want to hear from you while your thoughts and suggestions are fresh in your minds. Please email me your constructive suggestions, concerns and compliments about the 2009 season. Over the winter, the swim committee will be reading through them and using them to help make appropriate changes for the 2010 season.
Thanks and……
See you next year!
